Online Couples Therapy in New Jersey
Reconnect. Communicate. Move Forward Together.
Looking for couples therapy in New Jersey? I provide virtual couples counseling for partners across the state, helping couples improve communication, navigate conflict, rebuild trust, and create healthier ways of relating to one another.
Relationships can become strained for many reasons. You may be having the same argument repeatedly, feeling more like roommates than partners, struggling after a betrayal, or finding that the pressures of work, parenting, and everyday life have left little room for connection.
Couples therapy provides a space to slow down, understand what is happening beneath the conflict, and begin responding to one another differently.
I work virtually with couples throughout New Jersey, offering accessible relationship support without adding another commute to an already busy week. Whether you are dating, engaged, married, in a long-term partnership, or navigating a second marriage, therapy can help you move beyond reactive patterns and toward a more connected and intentional relationship.
Is couples therapy right for you?
You do not need to be on the verge of separation to benefit from couples therapy. Many couples seek support because they are experiencing:
Communication that quickly becomes defensive or critical
Recurring arguments that never feel resolved
Emotional distance or loneliness within the relationship
Difficulty rebuilding trust after infidelity or betrayal
Parenting disagreements or competing family responsibilities
Intimacy concerns
The effects of addiction or recovery on the relationship
Blended-family or second-marriage challenges
Stress related to work, commuting, caregiving, or relocation
Uncertainty about whether to remain together or separate
Some couples come to therapy during a crisis. Others want to address emerging concerns before they become more deeply entrenched.
Wherever you are in your relationship, therapy can help you better understand one another, interrupt unhelpful patterns, and develop a stronger foundation for moving forward.
My Approach to Couples Therapy
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I understand relationship difficulties within the larger context of each couple’s history, circumstances, and family system.
Rather than determining who is right or wrong, we look at the cycle developing between you: what activates it, how each partner responds, and why even well-intended attempts to solve the problem may leave both people feeling misunderstood.
Together, we may work to:
Improve communication and reduce defensiveness
Understand each partner’s emotional experience
Recognize the patterns that keep conflict going
Rebuild trust and emotional connection
Navigate disagreements more constructively
Strengthen intimacy and friendship
Develop tools you can use outside of therapy
My style is warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I also provide direction when it is helpful. My goal is to create a balanced space in which both partners feel heard, respected, and able to speak honestly.
Couples Therapy Informed by Specialized Training
My work draws from systemic, experiential, and cognitive behavioral family therapy approaches.
I have also completed Level 1 training in the Gottman Method, an evidence-informed approach that helps couples strengthen friendship, improve communication, manage conflict, and deepen emotional connection.
Every relationship has its own history and challenges. Therapy is therefore tailored to your particular needs, goals, identities, and circumstances rather than following a one-size-fits-all formula.
Why Work With Me?
My path to becoming a therapist has been shaped by both professional training and lived experience.
Before becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist, I spent more than a decade working in storytelling and communications. Understanding how people communicate—and the stories we tell ourselves and each other—continues to influence the way I approach therapy today.
I've also experienced significant life transitions, including rebuilding my life after divorce, changing careers, moving across the country, and creating a new chapter through remarriage. Those experiences reinforced my belief that meaningful change begins with greater self-awareness, healthier relationships, and the willingness to approach ourselves and each other with curiosity and compassion.
Clients often tell me they appreciate my calm, thoughtful, and collaborative style. My role isn't to take sides or decide who's right. It's to help you better understand one another and create lasting change together.
Virtual Couples Therapy Throughout New Jersey
I provide couples therapy through secure virtual sessions to clients throughout New Jersey, including North Jersey, Central Jersey, South Jersey, and the Jersey Shore.
Online sessions make it possible to attend therapy from home without traveling into New York City or adding another trip to a demanding schedule. Virtual therapy can be especially helpful for couples balancing different work schedules, commuting, parenting, caregiving, or other family responsibilities.
Both partners may attend from the same room or, when clinically and legally appropriate, join from separate private locations. Clients must be physically located in a state where I am authorized to practice at the time of the session.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is your New Jersey couples therapy entirely virtual?
Yes. I currently provide couples therapy to New Jersey clients through secure video sessions.
Do both partners have to want therapy?
Not necessarily. It is common for one partner to feel more ready or hopeful about therapy than the other. A consultation can help us discuss each partner’s concerns and determine whether couples therapy is an appropriate next step.
Do you work with married and unmarried couples?
Yes. I work with dating, engaged, married, long-term, and LGBTQ+ couples, as well as partners in second marriages and blended families.
Can we join from separate locations?
Depending on your circumstances and where each person is physically located, partners may be able to join from separate private locations. We will confirm the arrangements before beginning therapy.
Do you offer discernment counseling?
Yes. Discernment counseling is designed for couples in which one or both partners are uncertain about whether to continue the relationship. It provides a structured space to better understand what has happened and thoughtfully consider the available paths forward.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider. Many clients use out-of-network benefits, and I can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement. Contact your insurance company directly to ask about your behavioral-health coverage and benefits for couples or family therapy.
