A Supportive Space to Understand What Is Keeping You Stuck

You may spend much of your life managing responsibilities, supporting other people, and doing what needs to be done. Yet underneath that competence, you may feel overwhelmed, emotionally disconnected, uncertain about a relationship, or unsure of what you want for yourself.

Perhaps a breakup, divorce, family conflict, career change, or another transition has disrupted the life you expected to have. Or, you may be noticing a pattern: choosing unavailable partners, avoiding difficult conversations, putting other people’s needs ahead of your own, or questioning yourself after every conflict.

Individual therapy creates space to step outside the demands of everyday life and pay closer attention to what you are experiencing.

I provide online individual therapy to adults throughout New Jersey.

Therapy for Both Your Inner Life and Your Relationships

Individual therapy often focuses on personal thoughts and emotions. As a marriage and family therapist, I also consider the relational context in which those experiences develop.

We may look at what happens when you feel disappointed, criticized, rejected, or responsible for another person’s emotions. We may explore why particular conflicts feel so activating, why certain relationship dynamics repeat, or why it can be difficult to trust your own needs and perceptions.

Understanding these patterns is not about assigning blame to your family, former partners, or yourself. It is about recognizing how you learned to relate and deciding which patterns you want to carry forward.

How We May Work Together

My approach is warm, active, and collaborative. I will listen carefully while also asking questions, offering observations, and helping you connect experiences that may initially seem unrelated.

Our work may involve:

  • Recognizing recurring emotional and relationship patterns

  • Developing greater awareness of your needs and values

  • Strengthening boundaries without withdrawing from relationships

  • Communicating more directly and confidently

  • Processing grief after divorce, breakup, betrayal, or other loss

  • Understanding family-of-origin and intergenerational dynamics

  • Navigating uncertainty without rushing into a decision

  • Building a more compassionate relationship with yourself

  • Identifying practical changes that support your emotional and relational health

I do not offer a predetermined formula or tell you what you should do. We work together to understand your situation and develop an approach that reflects your particular history, relationships, identities, and goals.

A Relationship-Focused Clinical Perspective

My graduate education in marriage and family therapy provided specialized training in understanding people within the context of their intimate relationships, families, communities, and life circumstances.

My work draws from systemic, experiential, cognitive behavioral family therapy, and narrative approaches. I have also completed Level 1 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, which informs my understanding of communication, conflict, trust, and emotional connection.

Before entering the therapy field, I worked in storytelling and communications for more than a decade. That background continues to shape my interest in the stories people carry about who they are, what they deserve, and what is possible in their relationships and lives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is online individual therapy effective?

Many clients find virtual therapy comfortable, private, and easier to attend consistently. It allows us to have the same focused conversation without requiring you to travel to an office.

Can you help me decide whether to remain in my relationship?

Therapy can provide space to explore your concerns, clarify your needs, and better understand the relationship. I will not make the decision for you, but I can help you approach it with greater awareness and intention.

Do you work with people affected by someone else’s addiction?

Yes. Therapy may focus on boundaries, family roles, anxiety, resentment, trust, self-care, and the ways another person’s substance use or recovery has affected your life.

What if I have never been in therapy before?

It is normal to feel uncertain. The first session is an opportunity to talk about what is happening, ask questions, and begin identifying what may be helpful. You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what to say.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider. I can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits. Contact your insurance company to confirm your behavioral-health coverage.
